News: Breaking Bad Season 4 Episode 2 Spoiler: Who Called Walt? Find out here!

Spoilers ahead (Australian viewers)!

UPDATE: Even though Alan Sepinwall reported that series creator Vince Gilligan said it was Tyrus, the official AMC Breaking Bad site has it that it was indeed MIKE:

Late that night, Walt approaches Gus's house, gun in hand, but loses his nerve when Mike calls telling him to "Go home, Walter." His every move is being watched.
I guess you have to go with that, then...

Here's my original post...

Fans of Breaking Bad would have been left in agony once again over the speculation of who called Walt before he walked up to his boss Gus' house...

And today, Alan Sepinwall at HitFix has revealed all after asking series creator Vince Gilligan.

So who was it? Gus- who may have been watching Walt all along? Or was it Mike? Trying to stop Walt from doing something stupid while simultaneously protecting his boss- his job?

Well, it was neither - it was newly appointed supervisor Tyrus; here's what Sepinwall reported:

"There's been so much debate in the comments about who called Walt - Gus or Mike - that I went and asked Vince Gilligan. I don't view his answer as any kind of spoiler (as it's info from an episode that's already aired), but in case you do, don't read the next short paragraph:
So as it turns out, it wasn't Mike. And it wasn't Gus. It was, instead, the new third man in the operation, Tyrus (played by Ray Campbell), whom we saw earlier weighing the batch. And that explains why no one could agree on whether it was Esposito's voice or Banks's voice, I suppose."

Tonight's Pick: Conan - Special Guest: Bryan Cranston

Fresh from the record breaking premiere of Season 4 of Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston will be making one of many appearances on talk shows on TBS' Conan.

Conan has not only proved himself as a fantastic comic actor in Malcolm in the Middle, but has also rejuvenated his career by proving his dramatic acting chops in Breaking Bad.

This has led to a flood of movie roles, with parts in Larry Crowne, The Lincoln Lawyer and Contagion all having been filmed, with upcoming roles in the Total Recall remake as well as in Rock of Ages, among other movies.

He is always a very generous talk-show guest, and someone who never seems to take his success for granted and is passionate about his work.

Conan airs at 11:30PM on GEM in Australia.

It airs at 11:00PM Monday-Thursday on TBS.

News: Dexter, Breaking Bad, Lost favourites find new roles

Dexter actor David Ramsey, last seen in Season 3 of Dexter, will be appearing in the second season of Blue Bloods on CBS.

He played the role of "Anton Briggs", the boyfriend of Debra Morgan.

Breaking Bad revelation Giancarlo Esposito has also joined Once Upon a Time, the ABC drama series which will premiere this US fall season. He will be playing the role of Sidney/The Magic Mirror.

In Breaking Bad, currently in its fourth season, he is currently playing the role of menacing druglord Gus Fring, to great acclaim.

But rest assured, Breaking Bad fans, he will stay on the AMC drama, as the fourth series has finished filming, allowing him to act on the ABC drama.

Finally, AOL reports that Titus Welliver, who played the "Man in Black" in the final season of Lost will be heading to FX's new series Powers. The show is based on a comic book and is based on detectives who investigate crimes involving people with superhuman abilities. It hasn't yet been picked up to series, but it sure sounds promising.

Analysis: Some Breaking Bad S4 Questions

Breaking Bad is in that rare position that most shows never find themselves in.

It has built itself up for three multi-layered, multi-faceted seasons. All episodes are plot-heavy, character-driven masterpieces in their own way.

With less than a month to go until the Season 4 premiere of Breaking Bad, the details for the first episode have been revealed.

The first episode will be called "Box Cutter", not "El Topo", as it was previously rumoured to be (it could possibly be the name of a later episode).

News: Breaking Bad S4 "gets darker and deeper", No Minisodes: Cranston

Bryan Cranston gave an exclusive interview with Collider which should be a must-read for any Breaking Bad fan. I maintain that there is no-one better at summing up the mood and plot direction of a show that the actual actors themselves. Here is what he has to say about the overall arc of the show;

    • Anticipation for the fourth season of Breaking Bad is building slowly but surely. The premiere, titled "El Topo" is still a month and a half away, but there have been hints as to what the season might entail. Here is the trailer that was released today. It is the version from YouTube for Australian viewers, as other sites contain geographic restrictions

  • There's also a nifty little interview with series creator Vince Gilligan over at EW. Here are the key points to take out of it:

“(Walt) journeys deeper into this criminal underworld, and then much of season 4 is Walt’s effort to get out from under and overcome in a very dangerous battle of wills.”

"... Jesse is morphing into yet another person within himself, just struggling with his inner demons. It’s pretty intense."

"(Jesse's upcoming relationship with a familiar face is) a budding romance in the drug world... It’s a beautiful thing, and I know people will like it.”

“... even though things look pretty dire (for Hank) in the early going, he will get his mojo back as the season progresses in some fashion, although probably not in the fashion that you’d expect"

“People are going to have nightmares about Gus Fring,”

  • Fans of the lavish HBO drama Boardwalk Empire will enjoy this behind-the-scenes peek as well as the Season 2 plot hints in this video from HBO itself. The second season has just begun filming, with i

  • Is Patrick Dempsey leaving Grey's Anatomy at the end of Season Eight or not? Well, the answer so far is pretty well up in the air, as it turns out that most of the cast have their contracts expiring at the end of the season. What this means for the show and people's favourite characters is anyone's guess, but it means that if you're a fan of the show, you would be getting very nervous.

  • Fans of the recvently cancelled Fox TV show "Breaking In", starring Christian Slater, might be able to hold on to some form of hope, after The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the show "...Might Get Renewed" if you watch the finale on Tuesday night in the US, which stars Mike Tyson and Voltron. This is because Fox has floated the possibilty of renewal if it gets good ratings on Friday.

  • They have also thrown up a very likely reason as to why it was cancelled in the first place (even though it attracted ratings of around 7 million): "... (Fox) may find Breaking In too niche (read: too geeky) and not strong enough with female audiences."

  • TVLine reports that another British actor has scored a major role on big-budget Fox show Terra Nova, it's Rod Hallett from The Tudors (he played Sir Richard Rich in the show).

  • In other casting news, Ana Ortiz, best known from her role as Ugly Betty's sister in the ABC show, is heading to Detroit to star alongside Thomas Jane in the HBO show Hung. In keeping with the show's theme, she will be playing a woman who needs anger management and a prostitute... so no guesses as to what sort of things she will be getting up to in the show's third season. Ah well, you gotta what you gotta do to get by in the acting biz, don't you? Here she is/was in Ugly Betty as Hilda (on the left).

Those people eagerly anticipating Season 4 of Breaking Bad will be waiting for any scrap of information/footage relating to the new season (as to which there has been very little information released). I think this classifies as a "scrap", but it's something nonetheless. Here's  a video of star Bryan Cranston emploring fans to send in a video of how much they love Breaking Bad. But if you look at 0:33 onwards, there is a snippet of Season 4 footage, showing Cranston's character Walter White, still sporting his beard/moustache combo and throwing a burning pack of empty matches (possibly?) to the ground with Saul Goodman's face and slogan on it. Make of it what you will.

  • In Australian news, The Sydney Morning Herald reports that hit NBC show The Voice has been picked up by Channel Nine (both the US version and the rights to an Australian one). You have to wonder if Australia is ready for another reality/talent competition, let alone another singing contest, but with this show's emphasis on well, the "voices" rather than their look, etc. it isn't exactly the worst pick-up news. But once again, it will come down to the choice of host, and in particular, the judges/mentors/coaches.

  • TV Guide reports on the fact that Oprah's favourite guest of all time is Dr. Tererai Trent, a woman from Zimbabwe who endeavours to give the gift of education to children. I'd imagine John Travolta would be fuming.

FAQs Answered #1: Breaking Bad, Em Rusciano, Community, Bondi Rescue

Monday 11th April

Here are some quick answers to some regular search queries on this site

COMMUNITY has been renewed for a THIRD SEASON - It will premiere around September 2011.

LIGHTS OUT has been CANCELLED by FX, however there is a slim chance that it could get picked up by another network. A very slim chance.

Veronica Milsom was one of the original cast members of Hungry Beast, and is currently starring in its THIRD SEASON, screening on ABC1 at 9:30pm on Wednesdays.
She also featured briefly on the ill-fated Ben Elton Life From Planet Earth, where she played the roles of a Nigella Lawson-type chef, Lady Gaga (a role she also played on Hungry Beast)

Bondi Rescue hasn't been officially renewed for 2012, but it's fairly safe to say that it will be coming back, given it's one of the mainstays of Ten's schedule.

In terms of Season 4 spoilers for Breaking Bad, check out this post. However, it terms of solid facts, we know for sure that Bryan Cranston has said that one minor-ish character will die very on in the season. And we know that Bob Odenkirk and Jonathon Banks have been linked to other projects.

Emelia Rusciano

Rose to fame in the 2nd year of Australian Idol in 2004.
Has gone on to host various radio shows on the Austereo network, including "Em and Wippa".
She has since quit radio and now works on Kerri-Anne and the 7pm Project, where she is a regular "Metro Whipper" as part of the Metro Whip-Around segment.
She often appears in the presence of scantily-clad men- some have suggested it is not a coincidence.
However, she is quite funny, and deserves a bigger role- I'd like to see her fill-in on the Circle (not a euphemism).

Breaking Bad Season 4 Info (Spoilers)

[caption id="attachment_19" align="alignnone" width="640" caption="One of these men will or may have something happen to them in the forthcoming season of Breaking Bad Source: AMC"][/caption]

UPDATE: Bob Odenkirk has been sniffing out other projects, with Adult Swim ordering a pilot from him. Granted, it will be a small project, but it is still another project nevertheless. Read into it what you will...

There's no better way to kick-off this blog than with pretty much the best show of all time (keepin' it objective). Bryan Cranston, who plays Walter White in the acclaimed AMC series Breaking Bad recently spoke to EW about some Season 4 happenings.

What he reveals isn't the most earth-shattering of divulgences, however, in Breaking Bad-terms, anything is worth reporting and speculating on.

Interestingly, Cranston states “It is hard to say something without tipping the hat on another and causing a domino effect..." And as all fans of Breaking Bad know, the theme of a "domino effect" is one of the underlying premises in the entire show.

However, he does reveal “...in the first episode of the season, there is a very unexpected turn of events, and one of our characters who has been on the show several times finds a possible demise."

The fact that he uses the word "possible" could be Cranston acting coy, or it could be a set-up for another storyline such as Hank's tussle with "the cousins", which many believed would almost certainly lead to his "demise", however, it was not to be.

But in terms of characters who would fit this criteria, it would certainly rule out the main characters (they have appeared more than "several" times on the show) in Walter, Skyler, Jesse, Walter Jr., Hank, Marie, Gus, etc. Without wanting to look too much further into the matter for fear of making this spoiler too potent, I'm sure you can do the math as to who is left on the proverbial chopping block.

For those of you who want to watch their TV in the conventional way and not know everything that is going to happen, here are some set photos of Season 4 being filmed, thanks to Alibi.com. They don't really reveal much, but it's a long time until July.

However... if you really want to know who it could be... read on.
