How I Met Your Mother RENEWED for a seventh AND eighth season

While uncertainty continues to surround Two and a Half Men, CBS have been slowly shoring up the rest of their comedy schedule, with How I Met Your Mother renewed for two more seasons.

This comes after various disussions over the price of these seasons. However, the main thing is, fans should see at least another 44 episodes from the gang.

Further good news for fans in that the main cast has all been secured. This puts to rest any uncertainty over Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris potential departure, at least for the moment.

They arguably have the most promising careers and side projects than the rest of the crew, with Segel finding great success in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and I Love You Man. He also has a new Muppet movie in the works, which he has written and stars in.

Neil Patrick Harris also hosted the Emmys a couple of years ago, to considerable praise. He also floated the idea of one day hosting a "variety" show on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Here's a wild theory for you: David Letterman has hinted at retiring in two years time. Craig Ferguson would be at the top of the list to replace him. This would leave Ferguson's chair empty... Could Harris potentially fill it? I told you it was wild...
