An interesting one, but its dismal ratings in 2009 wouldn't make Ten consider reviving it in 2012. At this stage, even Big Brother looks more likely to be resurrected, with a lot of interest being generated by a recent ACA Big Brother reunion.

Especially as long as Ten has Masterchef (and will have for another two years after this one) and the Biggest Loser, there is certainly no need for it. They will be also hoping the Renovators will be a successful replacement for So You Think You Can Dance.

In terms of other channels picking it up, Seven already have their hands full with The X Factor, and Nine just don't do big live shows, and when they do, you get Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice.

Josh Lawson's House of Lies picked up by Showtime

Australian actor Josh Lawson has had his new show, House of Lies, picked up by Showtime.

The show also stars A-listers Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell, as well as Ben Schwartz.

There isn't much information about the show, but it has been described as a dark comedy which centres around Cheadle, who plays a consultant who will stop at nothing to get his clients information. Lawson plays on of his staff.

Regardless, it is great news for Lawson, who made his name in Australia in Home and Away and Blue Heelers. He went on to star in Sea Patrol, but showed his comedy chops on Thank God You're Here, where he became somewhat of a favourite (and hence, a regular).

He also took part in a bit of radio work, hosting a summer radio show on Nova with his good friend, Ed Kavalee.

After he flew to America to try his luck, he played the part of Ben in the pilot of the US version of Spaced, however, nothing eventuated. He then landed a role in a CBS sitcom, Accidentally on Purpose, also starring Alyssa Milano, his biggest role to date.

Unfortunately, only six episodes were filmed, and only four aired- it was cancelled, basically.

However, this latest role looks to be of a more formidable nature, especially when looking at the big-name cast and meatier subject matter.

Cancellation and Renewal Wrap: 28th March

Today some good news for fans of US behemoth shows... and some not so good news for fans of quaint little Aussie shows on the ABC.

RENEWED

CBS has renewed the Amazing Race for a whopping NINETEENTH SEASON. Since premiering in 2001 (with its current host, Phil Keoghan, who recently visited his home country of New Zealand after the Christchurch earthquake), it has spawned seven different versions- including one cancelled version (Central Europe) and of course, the upcoming Australian version, which is to be hosted by Grant Bowler. Here's something about Erin McNaught's boyf, who's apparently on the show... And moving on...

CBS has also renewed Undercover Boss for a THIRD SEASON. This is good news for Ten, who like to use this as a hole-filler, especially after, say, episodes of Undercover Boss Australia run out (it was of course renewed for a second season itself).

CANCELLED

And in somewhat surprising news, the ABC has given Can We Help? the chop, according to a post on TV Tonight. It was never a ratings winner, but then again, shows that screen on Friday and (now) Saturday evenings never are. However, it wasn't doing very much at all for six years, and was really quite a bland and uninspiring show. Peter Rowsthorn did his best (and was probably the show's only drawcard in the end) but ABC's treatment of it became a joke.

Its format in the studio made it somewhat watchable in my opinion, as at least there was some interaction between the hosts. Then there came a cutting of costs by the ABC and Rowsthorn was forced to throw to stories from the accounts department of the ABC (or something like that).

At least Rowsthorn has the Kath and Kim Filum lined up (most probably), where he might get to reprise his role as Brett Craig.

Renewal and Cancellation Wrap: Tuesday

A couple of interesting renewals today, and some not so interesting ones, but not entirely unexpected.

RENEWALS

ABC has renewed The Bachelor for a SIXTEENTH SEASON. But it gets worse...

ABC has also renewed The Bachelorette for a SEVENTH SEASON.

The UK version of Being Human has also been renewed for a FOURTH SEASON, with the US version still tracking along in its first season.

CANCELLATIONS

Still in the UK, sci-fi series Outcasts has been cancelled after its FIRST SEASON.

UH OH

And while not entirely cancelled, No Ordinary Family is heading south rapidly, with news that Julie Benz has booked a role in a new supernatural medical drama on CBS, no less. This in conjunction with her co-lead, Michael Chiklis similarly starring in another pilot, means that either they know something that we don't yet, or they are predicting the worst (or they could just be hedging their bets).

However, you have to ask yourself about how the show must be tracking if the leads are sniffing around elsewhere.

S#*! My Dad Says in Danger of Cancellation?

Fans of the William Shatner vehicle, S#*! My Dad Says shouldn't get too attached to it, with some news sources warning it is in danger of being cancelled.

Its ratings have been good, however, and word of mouth has certainly not been as terrible as it was first made out to be. It has had to weather the ridicule of being based on a Twitter feed, as well as confusion over its title, but has won respect for Shatner's portrayal of a grumpy dad.

It debuted with 12.48 million, but has since dropped to figures of 10.14, 10.29, 8.74 (its lowest figure to date) and 10.45 million.

These figures even trump popular comedies The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation and Community.

These figures are not bad, by any stretch, but tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com has noted CBS' tendency to axe its lowest rated sitcom.

And it is- easily. Mike and Molly is looking pretty safe, with its 10th episode hitting a series high 12.93 million. The past three episodes will have also cemented its chances with sterling figures of 12.39, 12.80 and 12.55.



16 episodes of S#*! have aired in the US so far.

2 episodes have aired in Australia.

As we all know;

Two and a Half Men has been renewed

The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for another 3 seasons, meaning there will be at least 7 seasons altogether.

Mike and Molly is looking good for its second season.

How I Met Your Mother will most likely get a seventh season, with a buzz-generating Countdown episode, and more recently guest-stars including House's Jennifer Morrison and Katy Perry.

Other shows which are looking good for renewal are NCIS: Los Angeles (with NCIS already renewed), Rules of Engagement, CSI, Criminal Minds and the Mentalist.

Ten would be concerned about Blue Bloods' performance, with a second season in doubt.

The Good Wife should get a third season, although it is not a given.

Also, Hawaii Five-0 is performing well, and is an impressive product, but Ten would still be crossing their fingers for a second season.
