When news came out the Alec Baldwin would most likely be leaving the NBC comedy at the end of its sixth season, "I'm done in 2012" he said back in February, it seemed like a good time for the show to wrap up as well.
Then, a few months later, Baldwin also kinda-sorta confirmed that the show would end with his departure. This also seemed to make a lot of sense, in more ways than one.
Now, it seems Lorne Michaels is not prepping to give the show a satisfying ending in Season 6 with Baldwin's possible departure, but instead sees it going on for the foreseeable future.
He told Vulture:
"No, I really can't (see Season 6 being the last season)... I can't imagine doing the show without Alec, but I couldn't imagine doing [Saturday Night Live] without Chevy,"I also have been weighing up the question, is a Baldwin-less 30 Rock, still 30 Rock?
He also said that Tina Fey is "completely committed to the show" and "(they) all want to keep it going".
Obviously there is still some room for Baldwin to re-commit to the show, despite what he has said, and then I could see the merits in continuing the show.
But assuming Baldwin leaves at the end of Season 6, surely it would be crazy to continue the show, because let's face it, 30 Rock has well and truly stopped being the fantastic show it once was. Don't get me wrong, it's a good show, but it definitely isn't a "must-watch" anymore... and that's with Baldwin on-board.
I couldn't bear to see the show drive itself off a cliff in a (potential) season seven
