News: Video Hits Axed (Reportedly)

Today The Daily Telegraph reports that music video stalwart Video Hits has been axed.

This is as part of Ten's cost-cutting under a network restructuring plan.

While it's sad news when any show gets axed, it's hard to believe that this news will be met with an outpouring of sadness.

Currently hosted by Faustina "Fuzzy" Agolley and Dylan Lewis, it has undergone a more than a couple of reinventions over the past six or seven years.

However, in 2011, apart from maybe the interviews with various artists, the show has largely become obselete with the advent of a little thing called the internet... or to be more specific YouTube.

And the show has recently been subject to being shoved around the schedule on Sundays, to make way for one Andrew Bolt and his new show.

And though it's bad news that one show is getting the chop (as well as people losing jobs), hopefully it secures the future of Sports Tonight, 6:30PM with George Negus and Sandra Sully (at the moment, the word is that they will remain at the network).

Note: For the record, my favourite host was Axle Whitehead...
